Christ Church Old Frontenac was prominently featured in a 2018 newspaper article in The Republican Eagle newspaper, which covers the Red Wing area. In the article, previous Christ Church Old Frontenac clergy, Rev. Stephen Gheen, was interviewed about the numerous restoration projects done in preparation for the 150th celebration of the Church.
Christ Church Old Frontenac is a Building For the People
Restoration projects were completed both inside and outside to return the church to its original splendor. Projects included replacing the roof with cedar shakes, repairing the windows and stained glass, repairing floors, and refurbishing the pews.
The 150th celebration included an open house at the church, live music, historical tours of Old Frontenac, children’s activities, a community picnic, and a special service with Bishop Bruce Caldwell.
Rev. Gheen concluded the article with a desired mission to make Christ Church Old Frontenac a place where all people, of all denominations, feel welcome.
